The
Hispanic
Family
Focus
Program
(HFFP)
strengthens
families
by
equipping
them
with
the
parenting
skills
necessary
to
create
a
positive
home-life
for
themselves
and
their
children.
HFFP
is
a
culturally
relevant
prevention
program
that
addresses
barriers
which
have
kept
Latino
families
in
high-risk
status.
HFFP
is
based
on
a
belief
that
stronger
Latino
families
will
produce
stronger
community
pride,
and
ultimately
result
in
better
neighborhoods.
All
enrolled
clients
complete
one
of
three
15-week
sessions,
which
meet
two
hours
per
week.
This
includes
six
ATOD
prevention
education
weeks
and
nine
weeks
of
parenting,
which
includes
but
is
not
limited
to
the
importance
of
school
attendance,
communication
skills,
managing
anger
and
problem
solving.
To
enhance
the
family’s
chances
of
success
in
the
Hispanic
Family
Focus
programs,
Adelante
also
offers
support
services,
including
General
Equivalency
Diploma
(GED)
and
English
as
a
Second
Language
(ESL)
classes.
Adelante
provides
additional
support
to
ensure
success
in
these
programs,
including
transportation
to
group
sessions
and
appointments,
child
care,
home
visits
and
referrals
to
local
providers
for
food,
clothing
and
shelter.
